This would be the perfect scheme for a fun, casual summer wedding. I was inspired by the adorable cupcakes from Vanilla Bake Shop (you must check out their site). Mixing in a more casual pattern adds a punch of personality to the look.

As the crisp December temps take over the country, I put together this board of neutrals which is perfect for a winter wedding. My favorite part is the beautiful bridesmaid dress by Simple Silhouettes.

It’s probably totally apparent now that I’m obsessed with green! But I promise its the perfect color to throw into your wedding scheme because it works during any time of the year, just choose your second color depending on the season. The lime and chocolate look would go perfect in the fall or winter. Throw in a little pink and its a summer/spring scheme.

I absolutely love the Paper Source, so when I saw this peacock inspired invited I thought it would be an excellent foundation for a color scheme. I love the sophistication of this palette. Just remember when you are using blues and greens, be careful of their shades. They can be tricky to match. Be sure you have swatches of everything so you can make the right choices.

Color Combo: Pretty Pinks

Even though my hubby wouldn’t let me use pink for our wedding (his one request), I love a pretty pink scheme. My favorite thing about pink is you can mix an assortment of shades, and it looks beautiful. You can’t go wrong when you go pink!

The Bestie’s Wedding: Part 3

After the ceremony and a cocktail hour, our guests moved into the courtyard. The scheme continued but my mom and I really wanted to fill the space with tons of flowers and candles.

Table Decor: Thanks again to the amazing Angelic Grove for their unique centerpieces. I loved the votive tree (far right). We had three different arrangements that span the tables. We also debated about table linins. At first they were going to be sage green, but as I incorporated more brown into the scheme we switched it out for chocolate. We also added chair ties on every other chair at the last minute (yeah, I ended up slightly over budget).

Sweet Treats: Cakes and a candy bar kept our gets on a sugar high throught the reception. I loved the candy bar (even though I didn’t get to snatch too many treats that night). I had about 30 pounds of candy for our 175 guests. I kept our wedding cake super-simple and traditional. Just a white cake with butter cream frosting with swirls, dots and flowers. Dave’s chocolate grooms cake was in the shape of Yankee’s hat.

The Band: Dave and I aren’t big dancers but we love dancing at weddings with bands. So this was at the top of our list. Seriously, the best decision we made. Our band, Shining Star, rocked the place. Our friends and family LOVED it and we had such a blast! The dance floor was packed the ENTIRE night!

The Bestie’s Wedding: Part 2

As I mentioned in the last post our wedding was at my parents amazing country club, DC Ranch in Scottsdale, Arizona. I always dreamed of getting married there. But there was one problem, I didn’t love the lawn by the pool where they had all the ceremonies. After coming up with numerous plans we ended up exceeding our number of guests so we had to have it on the lawn. To make the most of the location, I faced our ceremony towards the mountains so we had a beautiful view. On our wedding day I didn’t even notice the pool because of this arrangement. You can always, make a spot work. Just look at every angle.

Ceremony Flowers: I kept them pretty simple, little vases of roses hung on every other inside chair which tied in the rose petals lining the aisle. Then two large arrangements that created an outdoor alter. I loved our florist, Angelic Grove, because they had all these beautiful custom wrought iron vases and stands. It tied in perfect with the surroundings. My girls carried simple calla lily bouquet wrapped in brown ribbon.

DIY Programs: I designed all my wedding stationery. I made these simple programs by using a small card I purchased from the Paper-Source. Then printed the info on an 8×11 sheet of paper, cut it in half and tied it into the card with ribbon. They were super easy and were a huge budget saver.

More from the Reception tomorrow.

The Bestie’s Wedding: Part 1

As we’re getting ready to dive into all the details of Joanna’s wedding, I thought I would show you some of the favorite parts of my wedding. My adorable hubby Dave and I were married January 2007 in Scottsdale, Arizona. It was truly an amazing day and everything that I had ever dreamed my wedding would be.

The Colors: I had no clue where to start with colors. The only rule that Dave had was NO PINK. I started by choosing the girls sage green dresses. Green is my favorite color so it only seemed natural to have it as one of my colors. Then I fell in love with orange calla lilies and my mom though that would be the perfect pair to my green. The brown just came in to round out the scheme and was a great base color. The scheme looked amazing our Tuscan inspired country club, DC Ranch.

My Dress: Well this was dress #2. Yep, that’s right, my second dress. The my first dress, which was an amazing Justina McCaffrey was ruined by the dry cleaners just 2 months before my wedding. Luckily we found this beautiful Anne Barge which fit me perfectly at Destiny’s Bride, the best bridal store ever!

Bridesmaids Dresses: They were one of the first things I picked out. I let the girls pick whatever Jenny Yoo dress they liked best. I love the mix and match bridesmaid look.

I’ll have more from my wedding tomorrow.

Purple Inspiration

I revealed our color palette last week and now I want to show you where we got inspiration to include deep eggplant purple in our palette.

This is an amazing color palette from another site I check daily, Southern Weddings Magazine. The bridesmaid dresses are what caught my eye. So cute! And Brad and I had been looking for a feminine foil to yellow and green, which we had settled on a while ago. Deep purple looked awesome against the yellow and green and even the kraft paper. Plus, this inspiration board makes me think maybe I can add a little blush pink to my bouquet (does my bouquet have to match our palette exactly…?).

Colors!

Last night was momentous! Brad and I decided we had to settle this color issue, so we went to Archiver’s (a scrapbook supply store here in town) and tried to find inspiration in their many papers. We knew we wanted green for sure, so we first worked to find just the right shade. Once we found that, we found the yellow we wanted in a patterned paper, then decided to pick a backup color to use as an accent. We tried blush pink (I felt somewhat obligated to give pink a fair chance, but it looked awful, so we were happy to nix it) and then tried eggplant purple, which looked awesome!

I have to give kudos to Style Me Pretty (one of our favorite wedding blogs!) for all the color palettes they put up. Our yellow was inspired by one of the palettes a reader submitted to their contest (shown here). It was so helpful to see how someone else incorporated their colors into their wedding. I check Style Me Pretty everyday (ok, like four times a day) and I know I’ll be getting even more great ideas from them. Keep tuned for a blog spotlight on them soon!
